About Our Organization

Kikwetu Foundation is a registered non-governmental, non-political and non-profit making organization which is dedicated to helping and addressing a variety of issues, with a particular focus on the Kenyan society although having interests in the entire African continent. The organization was established in 2012 in Kenya by a group of passionate youth who were determined to advocate for the promotion of the African culture as a way of creating wealth for the youth and other disenfranchised members of society. The main purpose and function of this organization is to mobilize,


organize and redirect the energy of the youth towards maximum participation in relation to the major important matters of economic growth, development and innovation. Kikwetu Foundation is, in essence, an initiative which celebrates and promotes African culture by developing the skills of people within the community. The pulse of Kikwetu Foundation is in youth empowerment and community development through exciting mediums such as the arts, culture, music and fashion. With a keen focus on youth and community development, we are passionate about changing the world around us by tapping into and promoting the talents of African youth.

Kennedy Mbugua
Chief director and founder

Kennedy is a young man who is very keen on leadership and mentorship, areas which he is actively involved with in various sectors. His main passions are business, investment, mentorship and working with young people and he therefore seeks to impart his invaluable experience in business to young people and members of the community as a whole.

Susan Munywoki –

Susan is a gifted writer and entrepreneur who brings with her a vast treasure trove of knowledge and experience to the team. Her short story, Cold Feet on Sunny Day, is published within the FEMRITE anthology ‘Summoning the Rains.’ She also owns and manages a custom writing services company, Professional Writers Kenya, which is a pioneer writing company in Kenya that deals exclusively with the provision of superior writing services and consultancy. With a passion for music and the arts, Susan is keen to see the development of a thriving entertainment and arts scene in Kenya and is excited to be using Kikwetu Foundation as the machinery towards realising that end.

Timothy prins nzuna
Creatives and brand activation

Timothy is a visionary, brand consultant,creative designer and founder of Group Butterfly Branding Africa, a leading branding agency for co-operate brands and businesses. Prins helps his clients create game-changing brands, enabling them to increase revenue, make a bigger impact, and create a legacy.

Soni Karanja
Public Relation & communication

Having lived in almost all countries in East Africa, Muthoni has interacted and gotten exposure on different cultures around Africa. Her main passion is mentoring and interacting with young people to forge good relations which can lead to self-reliance through contacts gotten from various activities sponsored by the Kikwetu Foundation.

Samuel Kariuki

A Banker by profession and possessing a degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Nairobi, Samuel is a dynamic and multifaceted individual with experience in a variety fields. He brings to the Kikwetu team his love for numbers and accounting ensuring that the organizations accounts are organized and up-to-date
